VanAllen Named Hitting Coach

Alexandria, LA; April 8, 2009- The Alexandria Aces of the Continental Baseball League (CBL) announced today that Larry VanAllen has been named the club's Hitting Coach for the 2009 season.

VanAllen joins the Aces staff after sitting out of the game in 2008. The Vicksburg, MS native began his professional baseball career in 1996, playing for the Greensville Bluesmen of the Big South League. VanAllen would spend two years in all with the Bluesmen before signing with the Lafayette Bayou Bullfrogs of the Texas-Louisiana League in 1999. From there Larry made stops in Jackson, MS, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), TX, Springfield, MO, the Mexican-Pacific League, Arizona-Mexican League, Coastal Bend Aviators, Laredo Broncos of the United League and the Can-Am League's traveling team the Grays.

Larry will pull double duty this summer with the Aces, as he will also be playing in the outfield. A graduate of Grambling State University, VanAllen was a 2-time All SWAC outfielder and in 1994 set a Division I record with driving in seven (7) runs in one inning.
