
Valleycats Take Series With 10-2 Win

TROY, NY-The Tri-City ValleyCats (6-10) scored ten runs over the first two innings to beat the Connecticut Tigers (9-6) by a score of 10-2 before 4,525 fans at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Saturday.
The ValleyCats sent nine men to the plate in the first inning against Connecticut RHP Clemente Mendoza (1-1). 3B Ben Orloff (0-3) walked and scored on a double by 2B Enrique Hernandez (2-5).
DH Michael Kvasnicka (1-2) singled and C Ben Heath (1-3) walked to load the bases. 1B Tyler Burnett (2-3) hit a two-run double to score Hernandez and Kvasnicka and make it 3-0.
CF Daniel Adamson (2-3) singled home Heath to make it 4-0.
Tri-City scored six runs in the second inning against the Tigers, keyed by a two-run home run fro RF Adam Bailey (1-4) to advance the score to 10-0.
Mendoza lasted just an inning and a third while LHP Logan Hoch pitched three and two-thirds scoreless innings. He retired 11 consecutive batters and surrendered the game to RHP Drew Gagnier, who retired the first four hitters he faced. Tigers pitching retired 15 consecutive hitters in a streak ranging from the second to the seventh inning.
The Tigers started their scoring in the fourth inning. 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-4) singled and moved to third base on a single by C Julio Rodriguez (2-3). 1B James Robbins (0-4) grounded out to second base. Ashenbrenner scored and Rodriguez moved to third base.
Once SS Brett Anderson (0-3) reached base on an error, Rodriguez scored to make it 10-2.
TIGER TRACKS: The Tigers announced the promotion of two pitchers after the game Friday. RHP Jordan Pratt and RHP Luis Sanz both received promotions to West Michigan of the Midwest League. Pratt did not appear in a game for the Tigers while Sanz went 3-0 with a 0.56 ERA in three starts. He allowed just one earned run in 16 innings pitched.
