
ValleyCats Take Game Two with 5-2 Win

TROY, NY-The Tri-City ValleyCats (9-3) scored five runs on just seven hits to earn 5-2 win over the Connecticut Tigers (3-9) at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Friday night.
The ValleyCats scored two runs in the first inning. 2B Austin Elkins (1-4) singled and went to second base when CF Andrew Aplin (1-3) was hit by a pitch. A wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position.
Elkins scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead. 1B Jesse Wierzbicki (2-3) walked to load the bases and Aplin scored on another wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
3B Tyler Hanover (4-5) reached on an error for the Tigers in the third inning. He went to second base when LF Danry Vasquez (1-5) singled and scored when DH Jeff McVaney (3-5) singled. McVaney's single cut the ValleyCat lead in half at 2-1.
Tri-City scored a single run in the third inning on an RBI double by Aplin for a 3-1 lead.
In the sixth inning the Tigers scored a run with a bevy of two-out hits. RF Patrick Smith (2-4), C WesThigpen (1-4) and 2B Jordan Dean (1-4) all singled. Dean's single scored Smith to make it 3-2.
Tri-City scored two insurance runs in the 8th inning against RHP Angel Nesbit for a 5-2 lead.
