Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, NJ - The Camden Riversharks announced today that outfielder Val Majewski has signed a contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization. He will be joining the Angels' AA team, the Arkansas Travelers.
"I'm really happy to be joining up with the Angels," said Majewski. "I've had to battle a few injuries so far this season, but it's good to know that despite playing with pain, I was still able to showcase my abilities" he added.
Majewski's move to the Travelers should not require too much of a transition. Throughout his career, he has played at a variety of levels of baseball, ranging from the independent leagues to the major leagues. Majewski's career highlight came in 2004, when he appeared in nine games with the Baltimore Orioles.
This season, Majewski played in 28 games with the Riversharks, and recorded a .310 batting average while driving in 12 runs. He lead the team with 4 homeruns and an .397 on base percentage. Majewski also stole 6 bases this season.
"Val is an extremely talented baseball player who can really swing the bat," said Riversharks Manager Joe Ferguson. "I know that he will be successful wherever his career takes him, and I wish nothing but the best for him," he added.
The Riversharks are currently in third place in the Liberty Division of the Atlantic League. Their season record is 21-21, and they trail the first place Southern Maryland Blue Crabs by 4.5 games. Up next, the Riversharks will visit the Long Island Ducks on Tuesday, June 9, at 5:35 p.m.
