Utah Royals FC Acquires Three Players Through 2019 End-Of-Season Re-Entry Wire

SANDY, Utah - Utah Royals FC has acquired the rights to FW Kyra Carusa and have picked up the contracts of FW Cali Farquharson and FW Arielle Ship off of the NWSL Re-Entry Wire ahead of the 2020 National Women's Soccer League season.

"We are excited to add these players to our player pool and feel they will be able to contribute to our on and off field success in the coming years." Royals FC General Manager Stephanie Lee said.

Carusa, 23, was selected by Sky Blue FC in the 2019 NWSL College Draft, but elected to play abroad with Le Harve AC of Ligue 2 in France. Before being drafted Carusa spent three years at Stanford University, tallying 25 goals and 21 assists in 69 matches before finishing her college eligibility at Georgetown University, scoring 10 goals and 12 assists in 25 games.

Farquharson, 25, began her professional career when she was selected No. 12 overall in the 2016 NWSL College Draft by the Washington Spirit. After missing her rookie season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Farquharson has since made 44 appearances for the Spirit, recording two assists. Prior to joining Washington the forward spent four years at Arizona State University where she netted 44 goals, the second-most goals in program history, in 74 matches. She is the only Sun Devil to record double-digit goals in all four years of her college career.

Ship, 24, comes to Utah after spending three seasons with the Washington Spirit where she made 24 appearances, recording two goals and four assists. Originally drafted by Reign FC in the 2017 NWSL College Draft, Ship was traded to the Spirit in exchange for draft picks and current Utah Royals FC teammate Diana Matheson. In her first week as a professional, Ship made waves scoring one goal and adding two assists, subsequently she was selected as the NWSL Player of the Week. However, shortly after, Ship tore her ACL and sat out the remainder of the year. Prior to the NWSL, Ship spent four years at the University of California-Berkeley where she made 72 appearances and scored 30 goals and was selected as the 2015 PAC-12 Player of the Year.
