
Utah Eagles hold press conference

Head Coach Scott Fields announced that the team will hold a press conference Thursday October 19, 2006 at the teams offices in Salt Lake City. Fields stated "This is a great moment for the Utah Eagles and this organization, and we are proud to announce an affiliation between the Utah Eagles and basketball icon, Frank Layden."
Layden, who coached the Utah Jazz from 1981 to 1988, winning NBA Coach of the Year honors in 1984. He also won the NBA Executive of the Year and the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. Layden also held executive positions with the Jazz and New York Knicks.
Coach Fields also will announce the signing of the teams first player. Mike Hall, a 6'4 swing man from Brigham Young University will join the team as its first signed player. Hall, who was selected from the teams free agent try outs a week ago, averaged 13.3 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the Cougars. Fields will introduce Hall to the media during the press conference as well.
The Utah Eagles also will introduce a community effort, "Points for Charity". "The inclusion of the Eagles into the community is mandatory for us, and this effort to collect food for the needy is a welcome path for us to take" Fields commented.
