BYU's Mike Hall impressive at Utah Eagles Tryout

October 18, 2006 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Utah Eagles News Release

Coach Scott Fields knows that finding CBA talent wont be as easy as he would like. Fields opened the doors to the new CBA franchise in Utah this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised and impressed by Mike Hall, a 6'3 swing man from BYU. Hall, who has offers from Europe and Brazil, was one of a few free agents to sweat out a three session try out in Salt Lake City. There will be another try out in a few weeks Fields noted "we have a long list of players being sent by agents, and its a detailed process".

Hall, who averaged 13 points a game for BYU while garnering All-MWC third team honors, showed why he was a lock down athletic defender in Provo. Fields stated that he"was impressed by Hall's preparation and will, he simply hustled every minute through every drill". "Mike would make a great addition to our veterans camp if he continues to work hard.." Fields added, "..and as long as we have room, Mike would be a great player to coach here in Utah".

Coach Fields also was quick to praise Noah Brown, a 6'1 point guard from Appalachian State, who traveled in for the try outs at the referral of Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers. Brown, a 2004 V FOUNDATION " Comeback Award Finalist", averaged 12.6 points in his senior year. Brown sustained four broken fingers and several other broken bones in his left hand in a severe auto accident in 2002, but returned to ASU to lead the team in scoring and three point shooting, including a career high 35 point game and school record 9 three-point shots in one game.

Jared Ramirez, a 6'2 guard from Northern Colorado, also was a stannous. Fields simply thought that "..Jared does all of the little things a coach looks for, right pass, right place, right pace, and he is one of the more impressive catch and shoot guards I've seen in a long time". Ramirez was a high school favorite at Utah's Hunter High School, and has international experience as well.

The Eagles will have additional try outs that will be posted on its web site at www.utaheagles.com. For more information on the Eagles and the Continental Basketball Association, call (801) 266-SLAM. For CBA information, visit www.cbahoopsonline.com.
