Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release
Washington, PA - The Pennsylvania Rebellion and the USSSA Pride played in the first of three from CONSOL Energy Park Monday night. Led by a strong pitching performance in the circle, the Pride blanked the Rebellion by a score of 6-0.Â
The Pride scored lone runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings consecutively. RBI singles from First Baseman Hallie Wilson, Designated Player Gionna DiSalvatore, and Right Fielder Kelly Kretchsman had the Pride out to a 3-0 lead.Â
It would remain that way until the 7th when the Pride doubled their lead. A 2-run single from Catcher Chelsea Goodacre and base hit from Third Baseman Missy Taukeiaho pushed across three more and extended the lead to 6-0.Â
Two-out lightning was the story for the Pride as all six runs scored by USSSA came with two outs in the inning.Â
The two Rebellion hits came off the bats of Short Stop Whitney Arion in the third and Third Baseman Stacey Porter in the sixth.
The Pride were led to victory by a solid start from Rookie Pitcher Kelsey Nunley. The Kentucky Wildcat product tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout and picked up her first win.Â
The loss goes to Emma Johnson who pitched into the 7th inning, but was relieved after allowing a leadoff base hit. In all, she surrendered 4 runs on 7 hits.
The Rebellion (6-10) and the Pride (7-2) continue a stretch of seven straight games against each other with game two of the three game series in Washington Tuesday night. First pitch from CONSOL Energy Park will be at 7:05pm.Â
