National Pro Fastpitch Names Week 3 Players of the Week

June 20, 2016 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release


Nashville, TN - The National Pro Fastpitch League (NPF) announced the top players for week three of the NPF season on Monday.

The 2015 Player of the Year, Kelly Kretschman, earned the Offensive Player of the Week award for week three of the 2016 campaign. Kretschman hit for a .550 AVG with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored in week three. The 11th year pro out of Alabama leads the league with a .560 AVG.

Former Georgia Bulldog standout Alex Hugo of the Akron Racers grabbed the Rookie of the Week honor for week three. Hugo led the Racers this week hitting .428 at the plate with one home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. The 10th overall pick of the 2016 NPF Draft sits behind Kretschman with a .500 AVG for the season.

The final award for week three, Pitcher of the Week, goes to Scrap Yard Dawgs ace Monica Abbott. Abbott signed a record contact in the offseason worth one million dollars and has put together an impressive start for the NPF's newest team. Abbott went 3-0 in week three while allowing just three runs in 19 innings of work and struck out 34 batters. Abbott leads the league with 42 strikeouts in 2016, 15 higher than Dallas Escobedo of the Pennsylvania Rebellion who has struck out 27.

The National Pro Fastpitch League releases player, pitcher and rookie of the week awards every Monday throughout the season.
