USL PRO Releases 2014 Schedule

Rochester, NY - USL PRO released their 2014 regular season schedule today. The Rochester Rhinos will open their 19th season on April 5th in Orlando against the defending USL PRO Champions - the Orlando City Lions. The Rhinos home opener will be on Sunday, April 27th at 4PM in New York's only soccer specific stadium - Sahlen's Stadium - against the Charleston Battery.

USL PRO has extended the length of the regular season by a full month, and has added two more matches to the fixture list in 2014. USL PRO teams will play a total of 28 matches in the regular season. The Rhinos will open their season a week earlier than they did in 2013, and the last regular season fixture will be played on September 7th. The three rounds of the USL PRO playoffs will be played on September 13th, September 20th, and September 27th. The extended schedule means that the Rhinos will play their home opener in April for the first time in club history.

"USL PRO is continuing to grow and develop in its fourth year in existence." Rhinos President and Chief Operating Officer Pat Ercoli said. "The league continues to add more teams and more matches every year. We are also consciously moving in a direction to align our calendar with Major League Soccer as the affiliation between the two leagues continues to grow and develop."

USL PRO clubs and Major League Reserve teams will be continuing their two match series during the 2014 season. Rochester will travel to Chicago to play the Fire on April 19th. The Rhinos will host the Dallas Burn on Friday, July 11th. Yesterday,the LA Galaxy became the first MLS club to enter a team in USL PRO for a full season with the launch of LA Galaxy II. The Rhinos visit the Galaxy for their only meeting of the season on June 11th.

USL PRO welcomes two new clubs to the league with the addition of Sacramento Republic FC and Oklahoma City Energy, and will have 14 teams competing for the USL PRO Championship in 2014. Sacramento will visit Sahlen's Stadium on Friday, May 23rd, and the Rhinos will visit Oklahoma City on Sunday, June 22nd.

On Friday, May 23rd the Rhinos will be hosting "Home Town Heroes" night for active duty and veteran members of the military. The Rhinos will wear a special custom jersey for the match with Sacramento. On Saturday, June 28th the Rochester Rhinos will host Charlotte on the night of their annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. On Sunday, July 27th the Rochester Rhinos will host over 100 local youth teams in a soccer festival before their match with Orlando City.

Every USL PRO game in 2014 will stream live for free via YouTube, the largest global video sharing site. Live games and on-demand content will be available on each team's YouTube channel, with archived games available shortly after each game's completion. The USL PRO YouTube channel will showcase all of the archived and on-demand content produced by each team, including the USL PRO Goal of the Week as well as USL PRO Weekly, an audio podcast that uncovers the personalities throughout the league.
