USHL Show Debuts Tonight on NHL Network
January 28, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release
Spotlight USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will debut on NHL Network tonight, January 28th at 8:30pm ET. The show, produced by Chicago-based film company Banner Collective, is a 30-minute all-access look into the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that took place in Omaha, NE earlier this month.
2016 marks the second consecutive year that the NHL Network has partnered with the USHL to air an all-access exclusive look into the annual Top Prospects Game. Last year's film featured eventual first-round NHL Draft selections Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets) and Brock Boeser (Vancouver Canucks).
"This year's show is a big step up in terms of production, story-telling and the high level of quality people are beginning to expect from our league," USHL President and Commissioner Bob Fallen said. "Any hockey fan who doesn't quite know what the USHL is and what our mission is will come away with a new level of respect for our league."
The 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game featured three B-rated skaters including Chicago native Willie Knierim (Dubuque Fighting Saints) and Minnesota's own Max Zimmer (Chicago Steel), both of which are featured in the show. Team East MVP Ross Colton set a new game record with three goals and five total points, while Team West MVP Wade Allison earned a goal and assist in the game. Waterloo Black Hawks goaltender Cale Morris became the fifth goaltender ever to record a shutout in the game.
Earlier this week NHL Live hosted Fallen on NHL Network to promote the show, talk about USA Hockey's growth, college hockey's increasing influence in the NHL and more.
