ANN ARBOR, Mich. - USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., wrapped up its second annual Toys for Tots Drive today, totaling more than 1,000 toys and over $1,000 in cash for underprivileged youth in the Ann Arbor area.

"It's great for our players and staff to have the opportunity to give back to the Ann Arbor community that has supported us during the past 10 years." said Patrick Foley (Milton, Mass.) an assistant coach at the NTDP and the coordinator of Team USA's Toys for Tots effort. "We are very thankful for all of those who donated this holiday season to help make our drive a success again. The support from the Ann Arbor Ice Cube patrons, our local business partners and the billet and players' families was amazing. "

In conjunction with the Toys for Tots drive, USA Hockey is hosting the 2007 Toys for Tots Under-17 Four Nations Hockey Tournament at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. The event, which runs from Dec. 29-Jan. 2, features the top players under 17 years of age from the United States, Sweden, Finland and Germany.

ABOUT THE NTDP

Founded in 1996, USA Hockey's National Team Development Program was created to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice. Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the 46 players in the program are split into two squads - the U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 Teams. In the eight years NTDP players have been eligible for the draft, 124 players have been selected, including the number one overall selection in both 2000 (Rick DiPietro) and 2006 (Erik Johnson).
