SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Blaze wide receiver Mario Urrutia has been awarded the Cutters Catch of the Week for his fourth quarter touchdown reception against the Tampa Bay Storm, the Arena Football League announced today.
On Utah's final offensive play of the game, Urrutia capped off a three-play, 35-yard possession with a sensational leaping touchdown catch that sent him flying over the end zone dasher boards.
"My natural instinct when I see the ball is to go up and get it. That's my mentality," Urrutia explained. "By the time I had my hands on the ball, I was already going over the wall. My last thought was, 'hold on to it and make the fall worth it.'"
Only three games into his rookie campaign, Urrutia has already become a favorite target of Utah Blaze quarterback Tommy Grady. Urrutia ranks second in the Arena Football League in yards per catch (16.1), as well as third in receiving yards (338) and receiving touchdowns (9). Urrutia has posted multiple touchdown receptions in each of his first three games.
