Columbus Lions News Release

COLUMBUS, GA (June 6, 2011) - Coming off one the most thrilling games in franchise history in which the Columbus Lions (10-1) captured the 2011 SIFL Southern Division crown, this upcoming weekend the Lions will be honoring all of the youth athletes in the area who exonerate what Columbus is all about.

As they prepare for their upcoming title defense, the top-seeded Lions would like to honor all youth athletes in the area for their commitment to fitness, sportsmanship, and having fun in a team atmosphere by offering them a free ticket to the Saturday June 11th game against the Carolina Speed (3-8).

For the past four years, the two-time division champion Columbus Lions have operated the area's first and only ever Youth Indoor Football League. As a part of the program's formation, Lions coaches and staff work hand-in-hand with several area's youth football coaches and youth and have even began to spread the reach of the league to areas such as Waverly Hall, GA and even a suburb of Atlanta in Marietta, GA.

The result is a game that focuses heavily on having fun and developing skills in a condensed 8-on-8 indoor football format, but more prominently spreading the importance of sportsmanship among our youth of today and tomorrow.

Each child (ages 16 and under) can take one of the attached ticket to Columbus Civic Center Box Office to redeem for a free upper level ticket. "It will be a great night of arena football action and we will feature $1 hotdogs, $1 cokes, and $1 popcorn," says Columbus Lions General Manager Jeff Gonos. "We hope you all will join us in honoring our youth for their commitment and effort this season."

If parents or coaches would like to purchase additional tickets, please call the Lions front office at 706-322-3336 for exclusively discounted pricing.

Playoff tickets are now available, stay tuned to www.columbuslions.net for all the up-to-date playoff news.
