PAPILLION, Neb. - The United Soccer League announced today the decision to suspend preseason activities and delay the start of the 2020 League One season by a minimum of two weeks.

Effective immediately, all Union Omaha events, including this Saturday's St. Paddy's at the Park, are suspended. The health and safety of our partners, guests and fans is the highest priority of Union Omaha. We will continue to monitor developments and challenges in our region related to COVID-19 through constant communication with Sarpy/Cass Health Department, as well as the United Soccer League and additional health officials. Union Omaha will provide updates regarding inaugural season events and scheduled soccer games as they become available. We encourage our fans, staff and players to practice common-sense precautions including washing your hands, staying home when sick and listening to local health officials.

The following games are directly affected:

March 20th - friendly against University of Nebraska Omaha Men's Soccer Team

March 27th - Season opener against Fort Lauderdale CF in Fort Lauderdale

April 3rd - Closed-door scrimmage against Bellevue University Men's Soccer Team

April 9th - Lamar U.S. Open Cup second round

"It was very clear from our Championship and League One owners that the health and safety of players, fans and staff was their top priority," said USL CEO Alec Papadakis. "In consultation with local, state and national health authorities, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security, we made the decision to delay the start of the League One season by a minimum of two weeks."

When appropriate, the league will provide additional updates and very much appreciate the continued support of fans across the country.

Player protocol will be communicated at a later time.
