
United Indoor Football Week Seventeen Preview

Omaha, NE - Welcome to Week 17. The playoff teams are set, but all of their seeding is not. With Lexington and Bloomington fighting for the third seed in the Eastern Conference, they face off against Ohio Valley and Evansville, respectively. Omaha and Colorado will clash with the Western Conference's third seed at stake. RiverCity leaves one river behind and heads up another to face Sioux City. Sioux Falls and Billings, the Western Conference's top two teams, will meet in Sioux Falls. All in all, it should be a very competitive weekend with a lot on the line.
OHIO VALLEY (2-12) vs. LEXINGTON (7-7)
At Lexington, KY
7:30 p.m. Eastern
For the third time this season, the Lexington Horsemen and the Ohio Valley Greyhounds will meet. The match-up will be the second one at Rupp Arena and the second on a Saturday. The Horsemen are coming off a bye. In their last action, they lost to the Rock River Raptors 70-47. In that game, RB Rayshawn Askew and DL Jamal Naji led the way. Askew had 91 all-purpose yards (67 rushing and 24 receiving) and four total touchdowns (three rushing and one receiving) to lead the offense. Defensively, Naji made two tackles (one TFL), forced a fumble and also blocked two extra point tries. The Greyhounds are coming off a 40-12 loss at the hands of the Omaha Beef last Saturday at home. Leading the way were LB Devin Conwell and QB Oscar Davenport. Conwell made 10 total tackles (two for loss) and ½ a sack. Davenport completed 17 of 29 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns (one each to Willie Austin and Anthony Ferguson).
BLOOMINGTON (7-7) vs. EVANSVILLE (5-8)
At Evansville, IN
7:05 p.m. Central
For the second time this season, the Evansville BlueCats and the Bloomington Extreme will meet on a Saturday evening, this time at Roberts Stadium. The BlueCats fell at the buzzer last Saturday at RiverCity 41-38. Leading the way for the BlueCats were RB Dale Jennings and DB Hunter Pingston. Jennings had 124 all-purpose yards (26 rushing and 98 receiving) and three total touchdowns (two rushing and one receiving). Pingston had a team-high 11 tackles and a pass break up. The Extreme defeated the Billings Outlaws 49-31 last Saturday at home. QB Dusty Burk and DL Quince Holman lead the way for Bloomington in the victory. Burk had 180 yards of total offense (50 rushing and 130 passing) and three total touchdowns (one rushing and two passing). Holman made 2.5 tackles (two TFL) and two sacks; he also forced three fumbles.
RIVERCITY (8-6) vs. SIOUX CITY (3-11)
At Sioux City, IA
7:05 p.m. Central
Similar to a famous voyage made by Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and the Corps of Discovery, the RiverCity Rage will head up the Missouri River to face the Sioux City Bandits Saturday at Tyson Events Center. The Rage escaped last Saturday when they defeated the Evansville BlueCats 41-38 at The Family Arena. RiverCity was led by LB Joe Bevis and WR Hurtis Chinn. Bevis made eight tackles (2.5 TFL) and a sack; he also forced a fumble and rushed twice for three yards. Chinn caught 10 passes for 69 yards and three touchdowns; he also returned two kickoffs for 69 yards with a long of 36. The Bandits fell last Saturday to the Colorado Ice 61-18 at the Budweiser Events Center. Sioux City was led by DB/KR Alex Ardley and jack-of-all-trades John Zevenbergen. Ardley intercepted a pass and also returned five kickoffs for 57 yards. Zevenbergen made two tackles, rushed five times for 14 yards, completed six of 11 passes for 48 yards and a touchdown (to Johnnie Ostermeyer) and also caught a 17-yard pass.
BILLINGS (8-5) vs. SIOUX FALLS (14-0)
At Sioux Falls, SD
7:05 p.m. Central
For the third time this season, the Sioux Falls Storm and the Billings Outlaws will meet on a Saturday evening. The match-up will be the second at the Sioux Falls Arena. Last Saturday, the Storm came back to defeat the Rock River Raptors 34-30. Leading the way for Sioux Falls were LB Mark Blackburn and QB Terrance Bryant. Blackburn made 10.5 tackles (.5 TFL) and a sack, recovered a fumble and broke up a pass. Bryant completed 11 of 22 passes for 178 yards and four touchdowns (three to Leon Hall and one to James Terry). Billings fell at Bloomington last Saturday by a 49-31 margin. Leading the way for the Outlaws were WR Anthony Candler and DB Ernest James. Candler had 131 all-purpose yards (13 receiving and 118 kickoff returns). James tied for the team high with 7.5 tackles and also had an interception he returned 42 yards for a touchdown.
OMAHA (7-7) vs. COLORADO (6-8)
At Loveland, CO
7:05 p.m. Mountain
With the third seed in the Western Conference playoffs on the line, the Colorado Ice and the Omaha Beef will meet for the third time this season and the second at the Budweiser Events Center. The two teams split the previous two match-ups with each team winning at home. The Ice defeated the Sioux City Bandits 61-18 last Saturday at home. Leading the way for Colorado were RB Ryan Drinkwater and their defense. Drinkwater rushed for 58 yards and three touchdowns while the Ice's defense tallied five sacks, forced a fumble, recovered two more (one for a touchdown), made three interceptions (two of which were returned for scores) and also broke up four passes. Last Saturday, Omaha went out to the Ohio Valley (Wheeling, WV) and beat the Ohio Valley Greyhounds 40-12. Leading the way for the Beef were LB Chris Eads and QB James McNear. Eads made five tackles, intercepted a pass and also broke up a pass. McNear completed 14 of 24 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns; he also rushed for 55 yards and two more scores to give him five touchdowns for the game.
