UIF regular season finale will determine seeds three and four in both conferences

July 13, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - The United Indoor Football (UIF) week 17 schedule has at least one playoff bound team in each game. Three of the five games have playoff implications. The Omaha at Colorado game will determine the number three seed in the Western Conference. In the Eastern Conference, Bloomington and Lexington seek the third seed, but two teams not in the playoffs could determine which team is the third seed and which is the fourth.

Bloomington travels to Evansville while Lexington will host Ohio Valley. Evansville (5-9) and Ohio Valley (2-12) have been eliminated from post season play. Bloomington and Lexington have identical 7-7 records. If one wins and the other loses the winner is the third seed. If both win or both lose this weekend then Lexington receives the third seed based off the league's tiebreaker criteria. Rock River is the number one seed in the Eastern Conference with a 10-5 record and will host the number four seed at 7:05 p.m. CDT, Saturday, July 21 at the MetroCentre in Rockford, IL. RiverCity is the Eastern Conference second seed at 8-6 and will host the number three seed at 3:10 p.m. CDT, Sunday, July 22 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO. Despite the possibility of RiverCity, Lexington and Bloomington all finishing 8-7, RiverCity holds the tiebreakers over both Bloomington and Lexington. RiverCity plays at Sioux City (3-11) this weekend.

Rock River has a bye in the final week of the regular season.

Omaha plays at Colorado this weekend. Omaha is 7-7 while Colorado is 6-8. If Omaha wins, they're the third seed in the Western Conference via the better record. If Colorado wins and both teams finish 7-8, Colorado is the third seed based upon tiebreakers. The third seed would travel to Billings, MT to face the number two seed Outlaws (8-5) at 7:05 p.m. MDT, Saturday, July 21 at MetraPark. Western Conference first seed Sioux Falls (14-0) will host the number four seed at 7:05 p.m. CDT, Saturday, July 21 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Sioux Falls hosts Billings in the regular season finale.

UIF Executive Director & Commissioner, Dakota Crow is glad the final week makes a difference. "The season's been full of surprises. I'm glad to see we've had so much parity again this year. Overall I feel like we definitely took our game to another level this year. It's great to see that the last weekend has so much excitement with four playoff positions to be determined." Crow's looking forward to next week too. "I can't wait for the playoffs."
