Las Vegas Locomotives News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV - Tuesday, April 6, 2010 - The United Football League champion Las Vegas Locos will join forces with National Youth Sports of Nevada (NYS) for the Locos Fan Fest to be held at Sam Boyd Stadium. The free event will take place on Sunday, April 11, from 3pm - 5pm and is open to the public.
The National Youth Sports chapter of Nevada currently has more than 100 teams in its spring league, making it the largest in Southern Nevada. The organization provides programs for children to practice sportsmanship while having fun. The mission of NYS is to strengthen the individual, the family, and the community through the participation in youth sports.
NYS is no stranger to the UFL. They were regulars in the pre-game and halftime youth football exhibitions during Locos games at Sam Boyd Stadium. Children ages 8-14 had the opportunity to feel like pros and play on the field in front of thousands of fans.
The Locos Fan Fest will put aspiring young football players to the test with a mini combine including a 40-yard dash, broad jump, field goal kicking and passing drills.
Children and adults can have Locos team photos autographed by more than 20 players and coaches, including Locos head coach Jim Fassel. Along with face painting and dressing up in UFL helmets and equipment, youngsters attending the Locos Fan Fest can participate in a cheerleading clinic. Season tickets for the 2010 United Football League season will also be available to purchase.
Further details of the Locos Fan Fest will be announced during the build up to the Sunday, April 11 event. For more information about the Locos call 702-475-4893 and the team will also launch a new website in April.
