Union to play Toronto FC on Saturday at noon at BMO Field

Chester, Pa. (May 23, 2011) - Atop of the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia Union (5-3-2, 17 points) travel to Canada to face Toronto FC (2-4-6, 12 points) on Saturday, May 28, at the BMO Field. Coming off a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire at PPL Park, the Union will kick off at 12:00 p.m. EST on Comcast SportsNet with a 30-minute pregame show beginning at 11:30 a.m. EST. The Union return to the pitch at 6:00 p.m. EST, as the Reserve squad looks for their second win of the season when they take on the Toronto FC reserves.

Michael Farfán and Carlos Ruiz allowed the Union to remain undefeated at home on Saturday, May 21 against the Fire, as Farfan scored his first ever goal as a professional and Ruiz put in an astonishing left foot tally from 30 yards out. The victory marks the first multiple goal game for the Union this season, as well as the team's sixth unbeaten home game, thus matching last year's all-time record. The Union will try to surpass these numbers when they meet Real Salt Lake at PPL Park on June 11. Coming off the pitch in the fifth minute of Saturday's match against Chicago, midfielder Amobi Okugo suffered a left high ankle sprain that will cause him to miss the next few weeks of action.

Coach Brendan Burke's group will see action again this weekend, as the team meets against Toronto FC on Saturday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. EST. The Union will visit Toronto having come off of a 1-0 loss to D.C. United on May 16. D.C.'s Brandon Barklage was the match's lone goal scorer in the 43rd minute off a corner kick.

Philadelphia Union forward Carlos Ruiz has been called up to join the Guatemalan National Team for the upcoming 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, which runs from June 5-25. Ruiz, who scored his third goal for Philadelphia in a 2-1 victory over Chicago on Saturday, last played for Guatemala in an international friendly on March 28 against Bolivia. In the match, he scored his all-time leading 42nd goal for his national team. Prior to the match against Bolivia, Ruiz had been retired from international competition since 2009.
