
Union host Sporting Kansas City and Chivas USA at PPL Park

Chester, Pa. (June 20, 2011) - Philadelphia Union (6-4-4, 22 points) face a busy week ahead of them, as the team returns to PPL Park to take on Sporting Kansas City (3-6-4, 13 points) on Wednesday, June 22, and Chivas USA (4-6-5, 17 points) on Saturday, June 25. Coming off a tough 1-0 loss against Vancouver Whitecaps FC that ended the Union's four-game unbeaten streak, Nowak's squad will kick off against KC at 7:30 p.m. EST on The Comcast Network on Wednesday and against Chivas at 8:00 p.m. EST on 6abc on Saturday. Both matches will start with a 30-minute pregame show half an hour before kickoff.
On Saturday, June 18, the Whitecaps ended their 14-game losing streak when Alain Rochat tallied the game's lone goal off a ball by Chiumiento in the 12th minute. Rochat took one touch in Philadelphia's third and struck with his left foot to beat Union goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon. Recently signed striker Veljko Paunovic registered his first appearance as a Union player starting the match and playing 60 minutes before being replaced by Michael Farfan.
Carlos Ruiz's stint with Guatemala in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup ended on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Mexico, after the Union player opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the Quarterfinal round. Ruiz finished Gold Cup with two goals in four games, bringing his international career total to 44 tallies in 91 caps as an player with Guatemala. "El Pescadito" is now back with the Union and ready to play against Sporting KC on Wednesday.
