Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

TORONTO, ON — The Toronto St. Michael's Majors beat the Sudbury Wolves 3-1 this afternoon at the St. Michael's College School Arena. With the win, the Majors' record versus their Central Division rivals improves to 3-0-2 on the season. This contest also featured the Majors' 2nd Annual Charity Snow Bash as spectators were able to participate in the FunZone that was set up in the arena parking lot and the silent auction that took place in the lounge. All monies raised will be donated to KidSportä Ontario, a children's charitable program helping disadvantaged children and youth play organized sport.

All of the Majors' goals came during odd-man situations. Tyler Haskins got the home squad on the board on the power-play at 10:53 of the 1st period with assists going to Sal Peralta and Darryl Boyce. Then, Evgeny Kadatskiy struck on the power-play once again, at 18:47 of the opening frame; the lone helper was credited to Dustin VanBallegooie. Finally, Haskins added a shorthanded goal at 6:52 of the 2nd period with Peralta providing support once again. The lone Wolves' tally was provided by Bobby Chaumont, on the power-play, at 12:46 of the middle frame; Kyle Lamb and Rafal Martynowski were credited with assists.

The Majors' outshot the Wolves 35-31 in the game. Justin Peters got the start for Toronto while Kevin Beech was between the pipes for Sudbury. The game's three stars were Haskins (1st), Peralta (2nd) and Boyce (3rd). It was a rather chippy affair as 36 penalties were called. With the win, the Majors improve their record to 23-17-4-1, good enough to place them one point behind Barrie for third place in the Central Division.

The Majors will host the Mississauga IceDogs at 7:30 pm on Thursday, January 22nd. Then, they will travel to Oshawa to battle the Generals on Friday, January 23rd at 7:35 pm and to Owen Sound to face off against the Attack on Saturday, January 24th at 7:30 pm. Both of these latter contests will be available in the Toronto region on Rogers television (channel 10). Individual tickets for all Majors' home games can be purchased at the St. Michael's College School Arena box office, by calling Ticketmaster at (416) 872-5000 or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
