UIF's first year of fantasy football complete

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football (UIF) is headed to its final week of regular season play and preparing for the playoffs. The league champion will be crowned August 4 at United Bowl III. However, six UIF champions were crowned this weekend-in fantasy football at least. In its first year, a total of six UIF fantasy leagues were formed-three public and three private. With each league having six teams, there were a total of 36 teams involved.

UIF's Jason Swier coordinated the project with Goal Line Software. Swier says the first year turned out really well. "Goal Line Software does a great job of staying on top of the changing rosters and getting stats online." Swier noted the first-year venture received support from fans across the league, even across the globe as there were two soldiers stationed in Iraq that played. "Connection with the fans is very important for the teams in our league. UIF Fantasy Football has afforded our fans another way to get closer to the teams and players in our league. Fantasy football has a way of making players household names, so then not only do our fans know their hometown players, but they are able to recognize more players from opposing teams, making games that much more enjoyable for the fans."

Each team played the other five teams in their respective leagues twice during the season for a total of ten games. Last weekend the top two teams in each league faced each other in championship games. In less than two weeks the Beef, Extreme, Horsemen, Ice, Outlaws, Rage, Raptors and Storm all eye a championship. In UIF Fantasy Football championships were won by teams with more unusual names. The Meowing Banana Cats were champions of public league number three. Besides interesting team names, the private leagues gave their leagues. One such league: It Is What It Is.

United Indoor Football is the premier indoor football league of North America and is committed to serving its teams and fans. Please contact the UIF league office with any comments, concerns or suggestions.
