UIF Week Two Summary

April 2, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - An exciting week two for the UIF brought life into the state of Montana, an extreme clawing in Illinois, and an unusual start and the first overtime of the season in the "Show Me State."

ICE at BEEF

The Ice were riding high after their week one game against Billings, but this week was different. Ice Kicker Deric Yaussi led the team for the second week in scoring. Chris Eads led the Beef defense with 6.5 tackles, while James Head and Fran Johnson each forced a fumble. On the offensive side of the ball, Johnson threw for one touchdown and two interceptions. Mike Nizzi added 12 points onto his season total by catching touchdowns that were 22 and 15 yards respectively. As the clock expired, the Beef sent the Ice back home to the snow with Omaha winning 31-20. The Ice will visit RiverCity (2-0) this week. The Beef play Sunday afternoon at Billings (0-2).

RAPTORS at EXTREME

Rock River started strong, scoring 19 points before Bloomington got on the board with :01 left in the first quarter when Ramon Barber scored on a 15 yard pass from Tom Kudyba. Ben Sankey threw for two touchdowns in the second quarter connecting with Luke McCardle on both. In the third quarter the Extreme added seven but the Raptors could not be slowed, adding 14. Sankey finished with five touchdowns and 288 connecting on 27 of 29. The game ended with the Raptors on top 53-20. The Raptors are off this week before hosting Evansville on April 14 for their next game. Extreme play-by-play announcer Greg Halbleib gives us the audio recap.

STORM at OUTLAWS

For the Storm, Marques Smith showed why he is such a high value player, rushing for three touchdowns. The Outlaws Chris Dixon seemed as if there was a surge of energy running through his body during the game, as he competed 23 of 32 for 233 yards as he connected with Jason Quinn for four touchdowns. Dixon also rushed for three touchdowns, finishing the game with 297 total yards as the Storm defeated the Outlaws 52-49 in overtime. Sioux Falls will travel to Sioux City (0-1) Friday. Storm play-by-play man Rich Roste has this audio recap.

HORSEMEN at RAGE

The start of the game was almost as memorable as the finish. After receiving the opening kickoff by Lexington, Travis Williams neglected to advance the ball out of the end zone giving the Horsemen a rogue and a one-point lead. Rayshawn Askew (UIF Week 1 Offensive Player of the Week), carried the ball 13 times for 30 yards and two touchdowns, while Rage rookie Muhammad Abdulqaadir also had another strong performance rushing for 44 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. With under a minute left in the fourth quarter, Derek Kutz failed a PAT, leading to a tie and overtime after Kewan Dewberry connected with Octav Latimore. In Overtime, Abdulqaadir scored for the Rage, and Joe Bevis intercepted the ball giving the Rage win number two by a score of 46-39. Lexington will host Evansville (1-1) on April 7.

GREYHOUNDS at BLUECATS

As time expired in the first half, John Sims knocked home his second field goal, bringing the Greyhounds within six. The BlueCats controlled the third quarter, as Ray Kirkley ran in from 10 and Levron Williams caught a 20-yard pass from Nick Hart. In the fourth quarter, Ton-Ton Luzayadio kicked his fourth field goal but failed to convert two extra points. The Bluecats defended the tank as they defeated the Greyhounds 47-24. Ohio Valley will meet with Bloomington (0-1) when they travel to Illinois.
