UHL officials complete training camp

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO --- United Hockey League (UHL) referees and linesmen completed training camp this past weekend at McMillen Ice Arena in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The on-ice officials took part in both a skating session and a classroom session in preparation for the 2006-07 UHL season.
The camp was conducted by Brad Jones, UHL Vice President of Hockey Operations, with the assistance of Dave Smith from the National Hockey League (NHL). Matt Pavelich, UHL Supervisor of Officials, Russ Johnson, UHL Supervisor, and Richard Brosal, UHL President/CEO, also contributed to the training camp.
The skating session focused on proper positioning, conditioning, and techniques. Classroom sessions included a review of rule changes, game situations, procedures, video sessions, and UHL standards. Veteran referees and linesmen along with officiating prospects gathered in Fort Wayne for the sessions.
"It was an extremely positive camp," stated Richard Brosal, UHL President/CEO. "We place a strong emphasis into the continued development of UHL officials and improving our standard of play. Every individual at the camp displayed a high level of commitment to their duties as an official in the UHL."
"We appreciate the work done by our officials," stated Brad Jones, UHL Vice President of Hockey Operations. "It is a thankless job, but these individuals concentrate much time and effort to make our league better. We also appreciate the assistance of Dave Smith from the NHL, Matt Pavelich, and Russ Johnson. These men are valuable resources in the development of the officials."
The UHL and its officials are preparing for the 16th season of the UHL which commences on October 13th.
