ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Kevin Lynch (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) notched two goals as the U.S. National Under-18 Team downed the Alpena IceDiggers, 3-2, here tonight.

Lynch put Team USA ahead, 1-0, after he took a Jeremy Morin (Auburn, Mich.) feed from behind the net, skated out in front, and tucked the puck past netminder Nick Graves at 6:49. Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.) doubled the U.S. advantage after he broke in 2-on-1 with Morin, who sent the puck to D'Amigo who tapped it into the open net at 14:35. With just one second remaining in the period, Jim McCusker scored a shorthanded goal for Alpena to cut the deficit in half.

In the second period, Alpena tied the score with a 5-on-3 power-play goal from Erik Peterson at 3:41.

Just 13 seconds into the final frame, Lynch collected a rebound off of a shot from D'Amigo and put the puck into the upper right corner over a down-and-out Graves, giving Team USA the 3-2 advantage. Despite a furious effort to find the equalizer, the IceDiggers could not get the puck past Murray, who stopped all seven shots he saw in the third.

Murray made 34 saves to earn his 35th career victory at the NTDP.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team will play its final game of the regular season on Tuesday (March 24) against the Motor City Machine at 7 p.m. ET at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
