U.S. Nat'l U17 Team Falls to Traverse City, 5-2

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - Chase Balisy (Fullerton, Calif.) and Nick Shore (Denver, Colo.) each tallied for the U.S. National Under-17 Team as it fell to the Traverse City North Stars, 5-2, here tonight.

Kyle Bonis opened the scoring for Traverse City at 8:48 of the first period after he put the puck past netminder Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.).

Just 1:05 into the second period, Garrett Thompson tallied an unassisted goal just to double the Traverse City advantage. Balisy answered back for Team USA with a power-play goal at 4:21. Just 1:04 later, Shore converted on a Justin Faulk (South St. Paul, Minn.) feed to knot the score, 2-2. Marc Thompson put the North Stars ahead, 3-2, at 10:17.

Traverse City was powered by a pair of goals from Nathan Urbaniak in the third period, including one on the power play, to give the North Stars the 5-2 victory.

Maxwell made 23 saves on the night.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team returns to action on Friday (March 27), when it takes on the Motor City Machine at 7:10 p.m. ET in Taylor, Mich.
