CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Matthew Nieto (Long Beach, Calif.) scored the lone goal for the U.S. National Under-18 Team as it dropped a 4-1 decision to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders here tonight.

After the first period ended scoreless, Nieto took a feed from Bill Arnold (Needham, Mass.) and snapped the puck inside the left post 4:29 into the middle stanza to give the U.S. a 1-0 advantage. Zach Lehrke evened the score when he charged in on netminder Andy Iles (Ithaca, N.Y.) and jammed the puck between the U.S. goaltender's legs and into the net with just 1:29 remaining in the period for a shorthanded tally.

The RoughRiders took the lead 5:04 into the third frame when Bryce Aneloski's stretch pass sprung Peter Sekaris, who broke in on Iles and lifted the puck into the upper-left corner of the net. Eric Robinson gave Cedar Rapids a 3-1 advantage after he snapped home a feed from David Boehm at 13:38. Just 48 seconds later Lehrke added his second goal to account for the 4-1 final.

Iles made 19 saves on the night.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team returns to action Saturday when it meets the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:05 p.m. CST at Young Arena.
