U.S. National Team News Release

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Jason Zucker (Las Vegas, Nev.) notched two points and Will Yanakeff (Jerome, Mich.) stopped all 19 shots he faced as the U.S. National Under-17 Team defeated Motor City 4-0 in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

After a scoreless first period, Zucker grabbed his own rebound after a centering pass from Austin Czarnik (Washington, Mich.) and slid the puck past netminder, Zach Hansen to take a 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the second frame. At 9:31, Nick Shore (Denver, Colo.) notched a short-handed tally off an assist from Zucker when his shot beat Hansen glove-side to give Team USA a two-goal advantage. With 1:25 left in the period, Team USA took a 3-0 lead when Stuart Higgins (Troy, Mich.) received a deflection from Stephen Johns (Wampum, Pa.) and put it into the net from between the circles.

In the third stanza, Frankie Simonelli (Bensenville, Ill.) fired a wrist shot from the right point that beat Hansen low glove-side to cap the scoring at 10:51.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team will travel to Monthey, Switzerland, next week for its first international event, the Under-17 Four Nations Tournament, from November 7-9. The squad will take on Switzerland in a pre-tournament match up on Wednesday (November 5).
