U.S. National Team News Release

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) tallied the lone goal as the U.S. National Under-18 Team dropped a 3-1 decision to Bemidji State University here tonight.

Shore put Team USA ahead just 1:39 into the opening stanza after he picked up Jeremy Morin's (Auburn, N.Y.) rebound and put it past netminder Dan Bakala. Just 59 seconds later, Matt Read notched a power-play goal to knot the score.

Only 19 seconds into the second frame, Tyler Scofield put the Beavers ahead, 2-1, with a shorthanded marker. Jamie MacQueen scored to double the Bemidji State advantage at 11:23.

Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) kept the U.S. within two, while stopping all 12 shots he saw in the third period. Team USA was unable to solve Bakala, however, allowing the Beavers to come away with the 3-1 win.

Maxwell had 26 saves on the night.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team will close out the NCAA portion of the 2008-09 schedule on Saturday night against Bemidji State. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CT.

NOTE: The U.S. National Under-18 Team has posted a 13-12-1 record against NCAA competition this season.
