Motor City Metal Jackets News Release
WYANDOTTE, Mich. - Nick Kenney scored three times and added an assist to lead Mahoning Valley to a 8-4 over the Motor City Machine on Friday night at Yack Arena.
The game remained close through the first period, as the Phantoms held a 1-0 lead. But five goals by five different players helped Mahoning Valley take a 6-1 lead into the third period. Nick Taurence picked up the Machine's goal in the period.
Jake Friedman, Jared Williams and Nate Taurence all scored in the third period for the Machine, but Kenney scored two of his three goals in the period to keep the game out of reach.
Mahoning Valley scored five power play goals in the game while the Machine struck three times with the man advantage.
Trevor John recorded two assists for the Machine while Nick Taurence recorded a goal and an assist.
The two teams meet again at 7:50 p.m. Saturday at Yack.
