U.S. National Under-17 Team to Play St. Louis Bandits at Scottrade Center

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team will take on the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League on Tuesday, April 3, in the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo., it was announced today by USA Hockey. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (CDT).

The game is a prelude to the NCAA Men's Frozen Four that will take place in the Scottrade Center on April 5 & 7.

"We're pleased to have added this game to our schedule," said Scott Monaghan, director of operations for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, which houses the U.S. National Under-17 Team. "It's terrific exposure for our sport and a great experience for the players in the building that later that week will host the pinnacle of college hockey competition."

The Scottrade Center seats more than 21,000 fans and is home to the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues.

Tickets for the U.S. National Under-17 Team-St. Louis Bandits contest may be purchased at 636-536-4882 or at the door the night of the game.

NOTES: The game will not count in the NAHL standings as the NAHL regular season comes to a close on Sunday, April 1. The NAHL playoffs begin on Thursday, April 5.

ABOUT THE NTDP: Founded in 1996, USA Hockey's National Team Development Program was created to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice. Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the 46 players in the program are split into two squads - the U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 Teams. In the eight years NTDP players have been eligible for the draft, 124 players have been selected, including the number one overall selection in both 2000 (Rick DiPietro) and 2006 (Erik Johnson).
