Wildcats Win Two of Three in Weekend Games

The Wildcats played three away games this weekend. The first game was on Friday night against the Springfield Jr. Blues, and they were able to walk away with a 3-2 victory. The Cats then went on to face the St. Louis Bandits on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday afternoon the Cats kept rolling and won the contest 6-4. The final game of the weekend was played on Sunday and the Cats came up just short at a final of 2-1. The Wildcats currently stand in fifth place in the NAHL South Division.

The Wildcats were able to defeat the Jr. Blues on Friday night winning by a score of 3-2. The Cats came out hot in the first period connecting on two goals. Michal Hrtus hit the first goal of the game at the 4:47 mark of the first period, and he was assisted on the play by Skylur Jameson. The Cats soon struck again as Luke Salazar assisted Joel Sauer on a goal at the 7:24 mark of the first frame. The Jr. Blues added a goal toward the end of the first period, but the Cats took a 2-1 lead heading into the second period of play. Ville Aman connected on a powerplay goal at the 2:16 mark of the second period to give the Cats a 3-1 lead. He was assisted on the score by Skylur Jameson and Zach Josepher. The Jr. Blues would add another goal in the second frame, but it would not be enough. The final period remained scoreless, and the Cats walked away with a 3-2 victory.

The Wildcats took the ice again on Saturday afternoon this time against the St. Louis Bandits. This was a high output contest, and the Cats were able to win at a final of 6-4. Adam Krefski got things started for the Cats as he hit the first goal of the game. The goal came at the 15:37 mark of the first period, and he was assisted on the play by Brett Morrell and Michal Hrtus. The Cats led the Bandits 1-0 going into the second frame. The Bandits knotted it up early in the second; however, Joel Sauer soon answered back for the Cats by hitting a powerplay goal at the 8:56 mark of the second stanza. Brett Morrell and Luke Salazar were able to assist Sauer on the goal. The Cats went into the third period with a 2-1 lead. The action really started to heat up in the third period of play. The Cats got on the board first in the period when Adam Krefski was able to assist Sean Nealon on a goal at the 2:37 mark. Adam Krefski scored the next Cats goal at the 6:21 mark and was unassisted on the score. Michal Hrtus again put the puck between the pipes for the Cats at the 9:40 mark. Adam Cardwell and Skylur Jameson were able to set him on the play. Zach Josepher connected on the final Cats goal of the game, which was an unassisted emptynet goal as the game came to a close. The Bandits were able to connect on three goals in the third period, but the Cats were able to answer back with stellar play winning 6-4.

The Wildcats played the final game of the weekend against the Bandits on Sunday night. They were unable to pull out a series sweep against the Bandits falling just short at a final of 2-1. The Cats came out strong again, as they had in the other games of the weekend series, and were able to get on the board first. Luke Salazar hit a powerplay goal in the first period of play for the Cats at the 4:26 mark. Adam Krefski and Brett Morrell were able to get the puck to Salazar for the goal. The Cats went into the second period with a 1-0 lead. The Cats were unable to get on the board in the first or second period of play. The Bandits scored one goal in each of the final two periods. The Cats would fall just short at the final of 2-1.

The Wildcats will be back at home for one game this week as they face the Santa Fe Roadrunners on Friday night at the KYC. The contest will begin at 7:05pm, and the Wildcats will look to continue their excellent play. The Cats have now won 3 out of their last 4 games.
