
U.S. National Under-17 Team to Host Mahoning Valley Phantoms

THIS WEEK: The U.S. National Under-17 Team will host North American Hockey League North Division-rival Mahoning Valley (Ohio) on Friday (Oct. 12) at 7:30 p.m. ET and Saturday (Oct. 13) at 7 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
U.S. HEAD COACH RON ROLSTON: Ron Rolston is in his fourth season with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. He has amassed a career record of 123-58-11-6 (W-L-T-OTL).
U.S. HEAD COACH RON ROLSTON ON THE WEEK AHEAD: "We're looking forward to a big challenge this weekend. Mahoning Valley is one of the teams to beat in our division based on returning players and the team's potential. We'll be going into this weekend with a high intensity level."
U.S. NATIONAL UNDER-17 TEAM NOTES: Forward Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) extended his point streak to five games with his first period goal in the 6-3 win over Traverse City (Mich.) on Friday (Oct. 5). Shore is second on the team with six points (3-3) ... Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) leads Team USA with seven points (5-2). He recorded a goal and an assist against Traverse City and paces the team with three multiple-point games this season ... Bjorn Krupp (Atlanta, Ga.) and Zach Golembiewski (St. Clair, Mich.) each tallied two assists in the win over Traverse City for their first-career multiple point games ... Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.) also had a two-point game, scoring a goal and adding an assist against the North Stars ... In his three starts between the pipes, Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) is 3-0-0-0 with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. He stopped 25-of-28 shots earning the win on Friday... Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.) scored his first-career goal at the NTDP in the third period against the North Stars ... Team USA continues to find balanced scoring as six different skaters - Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mass.), D'Amigo, Kevin Lynch (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), Morin, Ryan and Shore - scored goals in the 6-3 victory over Traverse City ... Team USA is 6-for-24 (.250) on the power play this season.
GAME NOTES: The U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 Teams have combined for a 7-3-1 record in the NAHL, good enough for second place in the North Division ... The Mahoning Valley Phantoms are currently tied for fourth place in the North Division with a 5-3-0 record ... This is the first meeting between the two teams since Mahoning Valley swept the U.S. National Under-17 Team in last year's NAHL North Division Finals.

UP NEXT: Team USA will travel to Durham, N.H., for the Beantown Fall Classic to take on a pair of teams from the Eastern Junior Hockey League. Team USA will face the Boston Junior Bruins on Friday (Oct. 19) and the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs on Saturday (Oct. 20) with both games set for 1:15 p.m. ET.
ABOUT THE NTDP: Founded in 1996, USA Hockey's National Team Development Program was created to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice. Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., the 46 players in the program are split into two squads - the U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 Teams. In the nine years NTDP players have been eligible for the draft, 141 players have been selected, including the number one overall selection in 2000 (Rick DiPietro), 2006 (Erik Johnson) and 2007 (Patrick Kane).
