U.S. National Under-17 Team Settles for Split With St. Louis

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team was defeated, 4-1, by the St. Louis Bandits in North American Hockey League action at the Summit Center tonight.

St. Louis registered the only two goals of the first period, as Jeff Ceccacci tallied at 7:28 and Ben Warda scored at the 10:02 mark.

Team USA made it a 2-1 game at the 11:09 mark when Tyler Amburgey (Rowlett, Texas) netted a power-play marker off assists from Mark Goggin (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Grant Scott (Sewickley, Pa.).

Ben Miller gave the Bandits a two-goal lead again at 14:52 of the middle period, after he tallied while his team held a man advantage. Tom Brooks added a fifth goal for St. Loui at the 5:24 mark of the final stanza.

Team USA goaltender Michael Clemente (Great Falls, Va.) finished with 27 saves, while Cal Heeter stopped 25 shots for the Bandits.

The U.S. Nat'l Under-17 Team (30-28-2) travels to Michigan's Upper Peninsula next Friday (March 21) and Saturday (March 22) for a two-game series against the Marquette Rangers at Lakeview Arena. Friday's game will start at 7:30 p.m. EDT, while Saturday's contest is set to begin at 7 p.m. EDT.

Notes: Tyler Amburgey netted his second goal of the season.
