ST. LOUIS - The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell, 3-1, to the St. Louis Bandits in the final game of a two-game North American Hockey League series at Summit Center Saturday night. Team USA forward Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) lit the lamp for the sixth time this season in the setback.
Kyle O'Kane gave St. Louis a 1-0 advantage at the 15:11 mark of the first stanza, with the first of his three goals on the night.
Less than 4:00 later, Jeremy Morin tied the score at one apiece off assists from Zach Golembiewski (St. Claire, Mich.) and Kevin Lynch (Grosse Point, Mich.).
The two teams combined to record just two shots on goal in the opening frame.
Despite fielding a combined 44 shots on goal in the second period, neither team was able to solve the opposing goaltender. Team USA finished the stanza with 25 shots, while St. Louis posted 19.
O'Kane gave the home team the go-ahead goal 21 seconds into the third frame.
With time winding down in regulation, head coach U.S. National Under-17 Team, Ron Rolston, pulled netminder Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) for the extra attacker.
O'kane put the game away for the Bandits, however, at the 19:45 mark of the period.
Each team finished with 31 shots in the contest.
Brandon Maxwell totaled 28 saves for Team USA, while Mike Johnson corralled 30 shots in the win for St. Louis.
The U.S. National Under-17 Team returns to home action this Tuesday (Oct. 30) when it hosts NAHL rival Mahoning Valley at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
