CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team received goals from Bjorn Krupp (Atlanta, Ga.) and Grant Scott (Sewickley, Pa.), but the St. Louis Bandits recorded a 4-2 win in both teams' opening game of the North American Hockey League Robertson Cup Playoffs Friday night at the Hardee's Ice Plex.

The home team jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 6:40 of the first period when Josh Rabbani scored for St. Louis.

Team USA responded with two goals in 52-second span later in the stanza. Krupp netted his first goal of the 2007-07 slate at the 15:02 mark, thanks to assists from Sam Calabrese (Park Ridge, Ill.) and A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.). Scott notched an unassisted goal at 15:54 to give the U.S. National Under-17 Team its first lead of the contest.

However, the Bandits then netted three unaswered markers to secure a two-goal victory. Ben Warda evened the score up at two apiece at the 10:02 mark of the middle session, while his team was skating shorthanded. Rabbani picked up his second goal of the night, and the eventual game-winner, at 13:58 of the third frame. Sam Bozoian added an insurance goal for St. Louis just under three minutes later.

Team USA goaltender Nick Maricic (Alta Loma, Calif.) finished with 31 saves, while Cal Heeter stopped 30 shots for the Bandits.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team (30-32-2) and St. Louis meet again in Game 2 of their best-of-three playoff series tomorrow night at the Hardee's Ice Plex. Opening faceoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CDT.

Notes: Grant Scott (one goal) has recorded three points (2-1) in as many games ... Bjorn Krupp (one goal) pushed his season point total to six (1-5).
