U.S. National Team News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team recorded five second-period goals, including four unanswered markers, en route to earning a 6-2 win over the Traverse City North Stars Friday night at Center Ice Arena. Adam Murray (Anchorage, Alaska) turned away 24 of the 26 shots he faced for Team USA, and saw his season record improve to 5-6-1.

"We were very opportunistic tonight," said Ron Rolston, head coach of the U.S. National Under-17 Team. "We were able to finish our chances around the net, and our power play came up with three goals. Adam Murray also was very strong in net, and his play made a big difference for us. Now we have to come out and play even better tomorrow night, as Traverse City will certainly do the same."

After a scoreless first period, Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.) opened up the evening's scoring with an unassisted goal for Team USA just 28 seconds into the second frame. Zach Golembiewski (St. Claire, Mich.) spotted the visitors a 2-0 lead at the 3:11 mark of the middle frame with a power-play marker off assists from Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.).

Traverse City scored twice in the next 3:30, however, as Kyle Bonis chipped in an even-strength tally at 4:03, and a power-play goal at the 6:27 mark.

Team USA then rattled off three consecutive goals to end the second stanza. Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mass.) provided what proved to be the game-winner at 8:10, with his 12th goal of the year, thanks to a helper from A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.). Treais made it a 4-2 game with his fifth goal of the year on the power play at 14:57, courtesy of assists from D'Amigo and Golembiewski. Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) secured his eighth tally of the 2007-08 slate in the final 20 seconds of the period to give Team USA a three-goal advantage. Kyle Palmieri (Montvale, N.J.) added his seventh helper of the campaign on the play.

Palmieri netted his 14th goal of the season at the 6:57 mark of the third period to cap the game's scoring. Shore and Morin each picked up assists on the goal.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team (13-13-1) closes its weekend series against the North Stars tomorrow night at Center Ice Arena.
