
Two Republic FC Academy Players Called up to the U.S. U-16 Boys' National Team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC Academy players Gavin Krenecki and Dominic Vegaalban have received a call-up to the U.S. U-16 Boys' National Team, which will be competing in the annual Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca d'Isonzo, Italy. The tournament will take place from April 19 to May 2.
Krenecki and Vegaalban are two of 20 players that have been called up by U-16 BNT Head Coach Shaun Tsakiris. The U.S. has been drawn into Group A and opens tournament play against Italy on Tuesday, April 24. The team then plays Libya on Thursday, April 26 before concluding group play against Croatia on Friday, April 27.
The United States is the defending champion of the tournament after winning the 14th edition of the Torneo delle Nazioni in 2017.
Both Krenecki and Vegaalban have been with the Academy since the 2016-2017 season when the U.S. Soccer Development Academy was expanded to include U-12 and U-13 age groups. Currently, Krenecki plays for the Republic FC Academy U-15 team and Vegaalban plays for the Academy U-17 team.
