New Hampshire Phantoms News Release
Hampstead, NH, July 21 - Goalkeeper Matt Parsons and defender Jason Karalexis were announced in the Team of the Week selection for week 13 in the USL Second Division. Parsons made four saves in the tie 1:1 with the Harrisburg City Islanders, and Karalexis put together a solid performance in defense in the same game. Chad Sewers from the Islanders, who assisted for the equalizer, was voted Player of the Week.
The Phantoms are on the road this weekend. On Friday July 22nd they play at northern Virginia Royals. 24 hours later the NH team has a game at Harrisburg City Islanders. The Royals are bottom rock with a record of 1 win and 14 losses. The Phantoms have already beaten Northern Virginia this season - they grabbed an easy 6:0 win in Manchester in the beginning of June.
The Harrisburg City Islanders dropped to fourth place after the 1:1 tie with the Phantoms last Saturday. They have 28 points from 8 wins 3 losses and 4 draws. However the Islanders have 8 points lead over the fifth placed Cincinnati Kings, which makes them pretty certain for a playoff spot together with Wilmington Hammerheads, Western Mass Pioneers and Charlotte Eagles.
Phantoms GM Jim DeDeus said: "We had certain expectations for this season, but injury problems in the beginning of the competition put us onto a bad start and now the chances for reaching the playoffs are not high. So what we want to do until the end of the season is give the best of us in every game."
The NH Lady Phantoms are also on the road this weekend. On Friday they play at Western Mass Lady Pioneers and on Sunday at Sudbury Canadians. These are the last fixtures for the Lady phantoms in the USL-W league for this season.
