Two Orlando Apollos, Fleet DB Earn Week Eight Alliance Honors

Orlando Apollos wide receiver Charles Johnson, San Diego Fleet defensive back Ryan Moeller and Orlando Apollos defensive end Earl Okine were named Alliance of American Football Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for week eight of the AAF season.

Charles Johnson finished Saturday's game with eight receptions for 135 yards and one touchdown in the Orlando Apollos' thrilling 34-31 victory over the Memphis Express. His longest reception of 47 yards came early in the first quarter.

The 29-year old wide receiver compiled 60 receptions for 834 yards and two touchdowns in the three seasons he played with the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-2016.

Johnson's 18-yard touchdown reception from Apollos quarterback Garret Gilbert in the fourth quarter proved to be a pivotal play in the game.

Ryan Moeller finished Saturday's game with two interceptions, one fumble recovery, two tackles and two passes defended in the San Diego Fleet's 8-3 loss to the Salt Lake Stallions.

Moeller, 23, played college football at Colorado where he was a top special teams performer. He earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors after the 2016 season as a special teams player. When he ended his career at Colorado, which he started as a walk-on, with 156 tackles (118 solo).

Moeller's second interception, his third take away of the game against Salt Lake Stallions, came in the third quarter.

Earl Okine intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter in the Apollos victory over the Memphis Express.

Okine, 29, played college football at Florida. He played for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League in 2014 and recorded 5.5 sacks that season. In 2015, Okine played in five games for the NFL's Indianapolis Colts.

Okine's game-clinching interception against Memphis Express quarterback Brandon Silvers closed out Orlando's victory.
