Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes have signed Scarborough, Ontario native Negus Webster-Chan, a 6'7 guard who is eligible for the 2016 NBA Draft.

Webster-Chan played alongside fellow Canadian, and the NBA's top draft pick in 2014, Andrew Wiggins at Huntington Prep. After his freshman season at the University of Missouri Webster-Chan transferred to the University of Hawaii in 2014 where he played in 29 games with 22 starts, averaged over 8 points and over 4 rebounds per game.

"Negus is a player with so much potential," said Head Coach Hugo Lopez, "he has tremendous upside and if he continues to work hard we believe he is a player that could play at the highest level."

"At 6'7 Negus gives us a player that can play two positions. He can really shoot the ball from behind the arc, and we are excited for him to be a part of our club."

Webster-Chan has also been a member of Canada's U16 and U19 Jr. National Teams.

Also storming into Halifax will be 6'6 shooting guard Joseph Bertrand.

Bertrand played his college ball for the University of Illinois from 2009-2014, where he averaged 8.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and shooting 50% from the floor.

After a successful college career, Bertrand began his professional career in Luxembourg for BBC Arantia Larochette. He was then drafted by the Westchester Knicks of the NBA Development League, and played a season in Mexico in the CIBACOPA league.

"Joseph is a very smooth and extremely athletic player that gives us a lot of length at the shooting guard position," said General Manager Andre Levingston. "He has the ability to create his own shot and get to the basket because he handles the ball so well. We look forward to seeing him in a Hurricanes uniform."

That makes four players now signed with the Hurricanes including 6'1 Cliff Clinkscales and 6'8 power forward Mike Glover.

The Hurricanes will play a pre-season game December 18th in Sydney, NS against the Island Storm, and then return home to the Scotiabank Centre on December 19th to host the Moncton Miracles.

Season tickets are now on sale. Reserve your seat by December 1st for your chance to win one of two Budweiser bar fridges.
