Two More from Texas A&M Kingsville Join Sliders

Two more players from Texas A&M - Kingsfield have joined the Sliders 2013 roster.

The Sliders announced the signing of lefthander Matt Rhodes. The junior pitcher hails from Pearland, Texas and is having a solid season for Texas A&M Kingsfield.

Rhodes has made 13 appearances this season so far with 12 of them as the starter. He currently sits with a 3.55 ERA with over 63 innings pitched. Matt has struck out 44 batters while only walking 17. He is currently 5-3 and has allowed only 10 extra base hits of the 79 hits he has allowed this season.

In HS Rhodes was a 3rd-team all state and all-Greater Houston choice in 2009. At Pearland HS he was also named all-district twice.

Joining Rhodes in Springfield this summer is teammate Ryan Guedry. Guedry is redshirt junior from Houston, TX and his main position is catcher. Guedry currently sports a .330 batting average with one HR and 23 RBI's in 100 AB's this season. In 30 games this season he has committed just one error behind the plate.

Guedry comes from Houston Christian High School where he was named 1st team all-state twice and in 2009 was named District MVP.

PLAYER UPDATE:

A third Texas A&M Kingsville player was signed by the Sliders and announced earlier this year. Dallas Ponder is currently 8-0 in 11 starts, pitching 3 complete games. He has struck out 68 batters and walked only 22 in over 72 innings of work with a current ERA of 2.39.

The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
