Two Chicago Shamrox Players Earn Player of the Week Awards

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL January 10, 2007 - Two Chicago Shamrox players, veteran goaltender Brandon Miller and rookie forward Bill McGlone, earned NLL Player of the Week honors for their performances in last Saturday's 15-12 victory over the New York Titans at the Sears Centre arena in Hoffman Estates in front of a crowd of 8,456 people, the largest for any event held at the Sears Centre arena.

Goaltender Brandon Miller secured the "NLL Defensive Player of the Week" award for his performance in the victory over New York. Miller recorded 46 saves, allowed 12 goals, and tallied two assists in the first-ever game for the Shamrox. Miller was also featured in the #9 play in ESPN Sportscenter's "Top 10" on Tuesday night as he assisted on the first goal in Shamrox franchise history.

Forward Bill McGlone was named "NLL Rookie of the Week" after scoring three goals, including a short handed goal, in the Shamrox first ever game. McGlone also collected six loose balls in the 15-12 win. It was the first ever NLL game for the rookie from the University of Maryland, where he was First Team All-American and captain.

The Shamrox will go on the road for the first time in team history this weekend as they visit the Minnesota Swarm Saturday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. CST at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The Shamrox return home to the Sears Centre Sunday, February 11, at 3:00 p.m. CST to take on the Buffalo Bandits.
