Texarkana, TX - The Texarkana Twins couldn't hold the lead against the Generals and came up short in the first game of the series. The Twins will seek redemption June 19th against the Generals as their record for the season is now 9-10.
The Victoria Generals put a run on the board early in the first inning giving them a 1-0 lead. The top of the Twins line up responded quickly, loading the bases off of walks giving Gunner Halter the opportunity to steal home to tie the game at one a piece. The 2nd inning was eventful with the Generals loading the bases, but only adding one run to the board. The Twins took off in the 2nd inning starting with Peyton Faulkner getting hit by a pitch and then with Garrett Hastings pulling out a walk. With two runners on base, Cam Hill stepped up to the plate knocking a pitch to right center for a triple and two RBI's. This brought the Twins to a nice 3-2 lead. Hill later stole home to increase the lead to 4-2. The team was not done there, they loaded the bases and Coltyn Kessler got hit by the pitch for an RBI which brought the score to 5-2.
The Twins fell silent after the 2nd inning not having any more success at the plate. While the Twins were quiet the Generals scored one run off of a Twin error in the 3rd inning making the score 5-3. The score remained the same until the 6th when the Generals tied the game up with an error and later a sacrifice fly ball. In the 8th inning the Generals took over at the plate scoring 5 runs which gave them the 10-5 lead. The Twins answered back in the 8th scoring two runs one from Matt McDonalds triple and the other from Coltyn Kessler's base hit. The Twins added one to their lead in the 9th but they were too little too late.
Starting pitcher for the Twins Foster Pace pitched for six innings giving up only 5 runs. Austin Cree took the mound in the 7th inning facing three batters for three outs. Cannon Davis finished the game for the Twins struggling at first in the 8th inning giving up three hits and three runs, but finished strong with a couple of strikeouts at the end.
The Twins will finish this short two game series against the Generals tomorrow June 19th. They will then host the Acadiana Cane Cutters at George Dobson Field.
