Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros (25-22) were defeated by the Elizabethton Twins (25-23), 3-1, on Tuesday night at Pioneer Park. Despite the loss, the Astros are still holding onto first place in the Appalachian League West by a half-game over the Twins.

Elizabethton jumped on the home team early with two scores in the top of the first inning. Following a Jermaine Palacios leadoff walk and Daniel Kihle double, the Twins had runners at second and third. Palacios scored on a groundout. Then, Kihle went home on an Amaurys Minier RBI-single to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.

The Twins other run came in the fifth inning. Palacios, once again leading off the inning, got on base with a leadoff double. Then, after advancing to third on a wild pitch, he scored on another groundout to put Elizabethton up by three scores.

Astros' right-handed pitcher Dylan James, who was making his Greeneville debut after getting called up from the Gulf Coast League, came on in relief of starter Salvador Montaño in the fifth inning. James picked off a runner at second base and got a ground out to first to complete his first outing with five pitches over two-thirds of an inning.

Albert Abreu went the final four innings for the Astros. The 19-year-old Dominican held the Twins scoreless and allowed just four hits while striking out five batters.

The Astros were finally able to scrape together a score in the bottom of the ninth inning. Connor Goedert led off the inning with his team-best 15th double of the year and was knocked in by Kyle Tucker one out later. However, that would turn out to be to final run scored.

Goedert finished the night two-for-four with the double to lead the team. Meanwhile, Myles Straw, Osvaldo Duarte, and Christian Correa also each contributed a double.

The Astros head back to Elizabethton for the final game of the series on Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
