RiverCity Rage News Release
St. Louis, June 12, 2006-In 2005 the Rage won the Atlantic East Division Title. On Friday night, by defeating the Lincoln Capitols 114-6 on Friday night, the Rage secured the NIFL's Atlantic North Title and moved to (10-1). The 114 points is also a new franchise record besting the previous record of 90.
It's no wonder why almost every coach in the NIFL when asked, Which running back do you fear the most? responded, "Sha-Ron Edwards."
Edwards took control offensively rushing for 110 yards on 10 carries and gathering five td's on the ground.
The way Edwards plays has also caught the eyes of teammate Brandon "BG" Gregory, "He'll make you miss and run you over with power. His ability to come out of the backfield and catch the ball makes him a triple threat," said Gregory, about Edwards.
For the Rage on defense, Mike Matranga was voted as the Defensive Key Player of The Game, with six tackles and one broken up pass. "Our practices were intense this past week, and it doesn't matter who we play, we will go out there with the frame of mind that we are playing the top teams," said Matranga, following the game.
Adam Warren, also had a huge night running two fumble recoveries for touchdowns.
June 23, will be the next home game for the Rage at Savvis Center with a slated start time of 7 p.m.
* Note: There will be major events surrounding the game on June 23, and the Rage will release more information in the coming days.
RED-ZONE EQUALS BRIGHT TIMES
The Rage continued greatness in the redzone going converting on 12 of 13 attempts.
RAGE N' COMMUNITY
Ater a night of celebrating the North Division Title, Rage DB Brandon "BG" Gregory and Clarence "CJ" Jones took time off for a worthy cause.
The Berkeley Jr. League Football Camp is a time for youth to learn different drills and work on their skills, "This event means a lot to me, I love having a chance to give back. We ran them through a lot of ply-o-metrics and other types of drills." said Gregory, about the camp. Gregory went on saying, "You feel the impact and the importance of an event like this, when a year after the last camp, the kids remember who you are."
While Gregory and Jones were at the camp, other players and coaches were over at Centerfield Park in Fairview Heights, IL, for the Bethany Place Miniature Golf Tournement which benefited the Under One Roof Program.
