June 12, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Tri-Cities Fever News Release

Kennewick, WA. 06/12/06 - There are a lot of comparisons between the 2005 Indoor Bowl Champion Fever team and the 2006 team on the field now. The Fever are sitting with an 8-4 record overall and second place in the Pacific Division North behind Billings. Last season on this date the Fever were also 8-4 overall, and sitting in third place overall in the Pacific West behind both Everett and Wyoming.

On the offensive end of things you can hardly tell a difference between the two teams. In Total Offense in 2005 the Fever ranked 7th overall at seasons end with a 244.6 yards per game average. In comparison, the Fever are ranked 3rd overall this season while averaging 245.7 yards per game. Scoring Offense last season the Fever ranked third overall at 57.2 points per game. This season they are fourth overall at 56.8 points per game.

The Fever have been able to maintain these offensive numbers even with having to suit up seven different quarterbacks throughout the season. They have also only had last seasons leading rusher and second leading receiver Jarvis Dunn for parts of seven out of twelve games.

Defensively the Fever have very few comparisons to 2005. They have drastically improved in every aspect of the game. They finished the regular season in 2005 with 15 interceptions. With one game remaining and playing two fewer games overall this season, the Fever already have 24 picks total. They are led by both Sullivan Beard and Antar Brame with six apiece. In 2005 the Fever defense ranked 20th overall in Total Defense, while this years squad ranks 8th. They have improved from 13th overall in 2005 against in Rushing Defense, to 2nd overall in 2006. The Fever are also ranked second right now in Red Zone Defense, while in 2005 they finished 11th overall.
