GREENVILLE, S.C., January 21 - The Tulsa 66ers have acquired center Matt Nelson to fill the roster spot vacated when forward Tang Hamilton left the team.
Nelson, a 7-1, 270-pound rookie from Colorado State, was in training camp with the Charlotte Bobcats this season. After being signed as a free agent, he played in one preseason game before being waived by the Bobcats on October 17, scoring two points in eight minutes against the New Jersey Nets.
As a senior at Colorado State he played in 27 games, averaging 28.0 minutes, 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds. He converted 60-percent from the field (153-253) and 78-percent from the free throw line (121-154).
Hamilton played in five games (three starts) for the 66ers, averaging 25.8 minutes, 11.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
