CHICAGO (Thursday, April 8, 2010) - The dream continues this weekend for more than 400 aspiring young soccer players as Sueño MLS 2010 - built by The Home Depot, moves to Chicago's Montrose Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11.
Hosted by the Chicago Fire, the nationally-televised player search will be attended by an elite group of talent scouts led by Paul Cadwell, Chicago Fire's Director of Soccer and Team Administration.
"We are excited to host Sueno MLS here in Chicago again," said Cadwell. "This is a great opportunity for teenagers to showcase their soccer skills. Sueno MLS offers a unique setting for competitive youth soccer to flourish. "
While pre-registration for Chicago is full, players are encouraged to sign up in person for the "walk-up" list, starting Saturday, April 10 at 8 a.m. local time. Montrose Park is located at 600 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago, IL 60613.
Fans are invited to catch all the action live, and meet República Deportiva's "Senadora" model Alba Galindo, who will be at the tryouts Saturday signing autographs and posing for photos.
Players already confirmed for the Chicago tryouts hail from throughout Illinois, as well as 25 other states and nine foreign countries.
Entering its fourth year, Sueño MLS 2010 - built by The Home Depot, includes three local tryouts in Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles. The program kicked-off last week when more than 400 players battled in Houston for one of 10 invitations to a week-long trial with the Dynamo's youth development team. This process will be repeated in Chicago and Los Angeles. Ultimately, five standouts from each city will be invited to an exciting five-day "Final Event" in Los Angeles. The finals will include training sessions, scrimmages, guest celebrity scouts, and an opportunity to meet some of the League's biggest stars. The ultimate champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 9, on "República Deportiva," the popular Univision weekly Spanish-language sports show that will chronicle the tryouts in a "reality show within a show" format.
