DURHAM, N.C. – Two World team players and one U.S. player have been added as participants in the inaugural Northeast League All-Star Game on July 29 in Québec City.

Brockton left-handed pitcher Scott Martin and Québec shortstop Asdrubal Oropeza have been selected by World manager Kash Beauchamp as substitutes for right-handed pitcher Miguel Baez of North Shore and shortstop Jorge Diaz of Allentown. Baez was placed on waivers to be released today by North Shore and Diaz cannot attend for a personal reason.

Martin, 25 and a native of St. John, New Brunswick, has posted a 4-3 record and 4.09 earned run average in 12 games and nine starts. In 55 innings he has walked 16 and struck out 40. Oropeza, 23, from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, is batting .290 in 93 at bats for Québec. He has a .350 on-base percentage, five doubles, 13 RBIs and five stolen bases.

Elmira first baseman Ryan Lehr will replace North Shore designated hitter Michael Tejada on the U.S. team. Lehr is hitting .307 in 231 at bats with 21 doubles, three home runs and 34 RBIs. Tejada was placed on the inactive list today by North Shore forcing U.S.A. manager Ed Nottle to name a substitute.

The game will feature the U.S.A. team versus the World team. To qualify for the World team a player or his parents must be from outside of the 50 U.S. states. Starting position players were selected by vote of the league managers and media. Each club received one manager vote and one media vote. The pitchers and reserves were selected by U.S.A. manager Ed Nottle (Brockton) and World manager Kash Beauchamp (Bangor).
